Booster Shot Recommendations
As of October 21, 2021, the CDC and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices have recommended booster shots of the Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines to be allowed for certain individuals.
Pfizer OR Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine:
Individuals who received their 2nd dose of the Pfizer or the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at least 6 months ago and meet the following criteria are eligible for a booster vaccine:
Age 65+
Age 18+ who live in long-term care settings
Age 18+ who have underlying medical conditions
Ager 18+ who live or work in a high-risk setting including healthcare workers
Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 Vaccine:
Individuals who received their single dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least 2 months and meet the following criteria are eligible for a booster vaccine:
Age 18+
Mixing Vaccines:
The CDC and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices have approved the mixing of COVID-19 vaccines for booster shots. In other words, eligible individuals who received on brand of vaccine can choose another brand when getting their booster shot.

Healthcare South is NOT currently scheduling patient appointments for COVID-19 vaccine booster shots. If this changes we will update with new information on this website.
Please use the Massachusetts Vaccination Finder site to schedule a booster shot at a location near you. Individuals can also call the State’s COVID-19 Vaccine Line by dialing 2-1-1 and following the prompts for further assistance.
COVID-19 Vaccine for Children Ages 5 to 11 Years Old
On November 2, 2021, the CDC and the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices have approved the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11 years old.
This vaccine will be administered as a 2-dose series specially formulated for children, with 21 days between doses.
Healthcare South intends to provide this vaccine to those children who are eligible. Please contact your office for more information.
